Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are prescription medications veterinarians use to control pain and inflammation, most commonly for arthritis. Veterinary NSAIDs include carprofen, deracoxib, firocoxib, and meloxicam. Like all effective drugs they can have side effects, which is why they are prescribed and monitored by a veterinarian. Never start, stop, or change an NSAID dose on your own, and never give human NSAIDs to pets.
