Last year our 25lbs English Staffy, Zeus was almost 15. I was desperate to find a product to help continue his mobility yet also keep him calm. He started to show signs of cognitive dementia where he would pace in circles or around something for hours. He also seemed uncomfortable and maybe in pain when walking. We took him to a neurologist, this wasn't his first visit either. They told us his legs are stiff, could be Alzheimer's that's caused by a tumor or fluid build up in the spine. For context, in 2016 he lost all mobility in his back legs, one of the scariest moments we've had with him. We found out he has a separation in his spine and may continue to have these episodes. By a miracle and a lot of TLC for a couple of months he gained mobility back! He wasn't the same Zeus we knew, but he was walking, seemed happy, and that's all we asked for. Fast forward to vet visit last year, they recommended all sorts of medications to try and help ease his symptoms including prednisone, gabapentin, methocarbamol, trazadone. They said there is no cure and you have to manage symptoms. They praised us for our efforts of modifying our home environment and that's about it. They wrote us some Rx and off we went. Well, this wasn't good enough for me and I started doing my research and found there are natural options that can help him. I kept pressing the issue and calling the vet. I finally spoke to a women who does geriatric/end of life care and she recommended Dr Curtis Dewey and Dr Terry Fossum. She directed me to some videos and told me to look up their products. She gave some natural vitamin recommendations as well. Long and behold, that's what led me to Dr Fossums! I spoke to Sean several times regarding Zeus's symptoms and he personally reported back recommendations from Terry! How amazing is that?! I felt that someone heard us for the first time and they had natural products that could help! We started with cognicaps and rejuvenator, and continued to monitor for progress. The goal was to hopefully reduce the hard Rx medications and get him to the best version of Zeus! At almost 16 he has more energy than I do when I wake up in the morning. He is motivated to get the day going, is able to take directions from us and stay oriented. We have minimized the pacing to the best we can right now, and most importantly he seems comfortable. Everyone that sees him thinks he is a little Pitbull puppy, but he's our old man enjoying life. We have him on 1 cognicap 2xday and .5ml of rejuvenator twice per day. We haven't had to alter the dose in a while but also know that's an option as well. It makes this fur Mama feel relieved knowing there are natural options that can help. I wish I found these products years ago!
