Terpenes

Terpenes and terpenoids are aromatic hydrocarbons, the building blocks of plants’ essential oils and resins. They give cannabis plants their color, smell, and flavor; about 120 terpenes have been identified in the cannabis plant. Whether terpenes have effects of their own in pets has not been established: most research on them is laboratory or human work.

Myrcene: Earthy, musky scent; often the most abundant terpene in hemp, also found in hops and mango.

Limonene: Citrus scent; also found in citrus peel.

Linalool: Floral aroma; also found in lavender.
