Dr. Curtis Dewey is a board-certified veterinary neurologist (Diplomate, ACVIM-Neurology) and surgeon (Diplomate, ACVS) with more than 30 years of clinical experience. He earned his BS and DVM at Cornell University and an MS in anatomy at the University of Georgia, and served as a faculty neurologist at both Cornell University and Texas A&M University. He has also worked in private specialty practice and consulting, and today practices integrative veterinary neurology at Elemental Pet Vets in New York.
Dr. Dewey has authored or co-authored numerous journal articles and textbook chapters. He wrote Practical Guide to Canine and Feline Neurology, now in its third edition, and Clinician’s Guide to Canine Acupuncture. He co-authored the 4th and 5th editions of Fossum’s Small Animal Surgery, the surgery textbook written by our founder, Dr. Terry Fossum, and used by veterinarians around the world. He has served on the editorial review boards of several peer-reviewed journals, and in 2014 received the ACVECC Hill’s Jack Mara Award for Scientific Achievement.
Dr. Dewey formulated CogniCaps, our cognitive support supplement for senior dogs, and serves as the medical reviewer for our dog dementia and senior-dog cognitive health guides.
